Abstract
638,448. Handle-bars. NYMANBOLAGEN AKTfEBOLAGET. Dec. 17, 1947, Nos. 33241 and 33242. Convention dates, June 11, 1946 and Sept. 6, 1946. [Class 136 (iii)] In a device for locking a cycle handle-bar to the steering column in two positions displaced at 90 degrees relative to each other, the handlebar attachment 3 is rotatably and displaceably mounted on an extension 2 of the steering column 1 and is provided at the bottom with projections 4 retained in engagement with recesses 5 in the steering column displaced at 90 degrees relatively to each other by a screw 7 in engagement with a threaded hole 6 in the extension, the head of the screw being formed into an attachment for a rotatable bell 11 with a resilient tongue 12 co-operating with a rigid abutment 13 or into a rotatable abutment for a resilient tongue cooperating with a bell. Fig. 1 shows the bell freely rotatable on a pivot 10 attached to a head 9 on the screw 7. In Fig. 3, the bell is rigid with the screw 7 and a plate 15 provided with projections 13 and a handle 14 is rotatable on the screw. In Fig. 4, the bell is displaceable on the screw 7 against the action of a spring 16 and adapted to be locked to the screw by the co-operation of projections 19 on the screw in recesses 18 on the hub 17 of the bell so as to serve as a turning button for the screw. Figs. 5 and 6 show a modification in which the spring 22 is U-shaped and one or both shanks of which enter transverse slots 20 in the hub 17 and co-operate with one of two annular grooves 23, 24 in the screw, in one of which the bell is locked to the screw and in the other it is freely rotatable.
