Abstract

1,258,251. Foot-rests for wheel-chairs. W & F BARRETT Ltd. Jan. 10, 1969 [Jan. 12, 1968] No. 1960/68. Heading A4J. One leg 10 of an inverted U-shaped foot-rest bracket 8 which is moveable between two limit positions is mounted for rotation about a vertical axis in a sleeve 28 attached to a collapsible wheel chair frame. The foot rest may be detached from the chair frame by vertical movement except when in the operative position in which a stop 34 on the chair frame prevents upward movement. The foot rest is locked in its two limit positions by means of a pair of recesses 12 Figs.3-5 (not shown) in the leg 10, each recess engaging with a pin (30) in the sleeve 28. In the operative position the foot rest may also be locked by the engagement of a nut 32 with a hole 16. The footrest bracket may be used with the wheel chair described in Specification 1,140,204.
