[Class 79 (iii)] A bicycle lock for locking the front fork 15 to the steering head 2 comprises a cylinder type lock 8 secured to one of these parts, being of the kind which is rotatably movable from one alternative position to another by a key which can only be removed ir, one of such positions the lock then being positively secured,in the respective position, and a bolt 12 carried by the same part and operably connected to the lock for effecting sliding movement of the bolt upon rotation of the lock and a bolt receiver secured to the other of the respective parts. The lock 8 is housed in a flanged bush 6 secured in a tubular housing 4 integral with the bottom head lug 1 by a set screw 7 co-operating with an internal wall 4a. The bolt 12 is operated by an eccentric pin 13 mounted on the end of the lock 8 and passes diagonally through the lug 1 and a lower extension 5 of the lug to enter or retract from either of three alternative blind holes 14a in a receiver 14 rigidly secured to the fork. crown 15. The lock 8 is prevented fromwithdrawal from the bush 6 by a segmental key 10 and is prevented from rotation by a pin 9. Longitudinal grooves at diametrically opposite points are provided on the inside of the bush 6 to receive the tumblers of the lock 8 in known manner in either of the two positions. A half circumferential rib on the lock 8 co-operates with a shoulder on the bush 6 to limit rotation of the lock to half a revolution. In an alternative construction the lock 8 and bush 6 are mounted in a tubular form of fork crown and the bolt 12 is mounted in a vertical cylindrical extension on the crown to co-operate with a receiver secured to the head. In a further construction the lock may be mounted horizontally alongside the bottom head lug.
