498,286. Bicycle supports. INJECTA AKT.-GES. June 29, 1938, No. 19318. Convention date, June 29, 1937. [Class 136 (i)] In a bicycle support of the type comprising a stay 7 pivoted e.g. on an inclined pivot 8, to an attachment member 2 on the lower part 1 of the cycle frame so that it can be swung down forwardly and outwardly from an inoperative position beside the rear wheel into an inclined position engaging the ground, the attachment member 2 consists of a stud provided with stop surfaces 9 for engaging the stay in its two extreme positions, a spring- controlled pawl (e.g. a spring-urged sliding sleeve 13) being located in the stud. The sleeve 13 engages cut-away surfaces 14 on the end of the stay 7. Access of dirt to the pivot may be prevented by a curved lug projecting from the upper end of the stay 7 so as to cover the opening 15 when the stay is in the inoperative position. The stud 2 is recessed at 3 to engage the chain stays 1 and is clamped by a yoke 4 and bolt 5.
