403,562. Closures for jars &c. REITER, A., 12, Wasagasse, Vienna. May 15, 1933, No. 14081. Convention date, May 14, 1932. [Class 125 (iii).] A closure for a jar &c. wherein a closure member is mounted in the neck of the jar for rota tion is characterised in that one of these parts, either the neck or the closure member, is provided with a longitudinal outflow groove, whilst the other part is provided with one or more closing elements interrupted locally in such a maimer that by relative rotation of the parts the closing elements intersect and close the groove, whilse when the local interruptions are brought into register with the groove the contents of the jar can pass therethrough. In Fig. 1 parts of the screwthreading on a jar neck interior and a plug stopper are cut away at b to afford a passageway when in register. In one modification a rubber &c. ring secured to a plain plug and seating in a circumferential groove crossing a longitudinal groove in the jar neck is cut away at one point, and in another modification a circumferential bead on a jar neck, cut away at one point, engages a circumferential groove on a plug also longitudinally grooved, which may have slow screw threads at its upper end. Several gaps or interruptions of differing crosssection may be provided to afford varying rates of discharge.
