401,148. Gas turbine plant. HOLZWARTH, H., 7, Goethestrasse, D³sseldorf, Germany. Feb. 9, 1933, No. 4042. Convention date, Feb. 9, 1932. [Class 110 (iii).] A pressure medium to be used for the transmission of power to a distance is produced in the form of compressed gases of combustion in explosion combustion turbine plants. The plant described comprises a gas turbine 4 fed by explosion chambers 1, and H.P. and L.P. steam turbines 22, 25 supplied by steam which is generated by the waste heat of the gases passing through the exhaust 5 on their way to the pipe line. Water from a receiver 17 is forced through a heater 12 into a pipe 10 into which additional water is forced from a hot-well 9. This water passes through the cooling jackets of the gas turbine and is returned by a pipe 13 and a reducing valve 15 to the receiver 17. Steam generated in the receiver is passed through heaters 19, 20 to the turbine 22, and thence through a reheater 23 to the turbine 25. The condensate is passed from the condenser 26 through a heater 28 to the receiver 9. The gas turbine, or the steam turbine may drive a compressor the air from which may be used for charging the gas turbine or for doing other work. The turbines may drive other machines. Carbon-monoxide may be removed from the exhaust gases by passing them over a catalyser, and acid-anhydrides may be removed by cleaning devices arranged at the points 7, 30.
