Abstract
471,887. Gas turbine plant. JENDRASSIK, G. Dec. 9, 1935, No. 34106. Convention date, April 1. [Class 110 (iii)] The gas for a gas turbine plant is compressed by a multi-stage compressor to not more than eight times its initial pressure following which it is heated to at least 70 per cent of the highest temperature of the working cycle in a periodically operating heat exchange device heated by exhaust gases whereupon it is passed to the turbine in which fuel is burnt upon admission and/or during expansion. The Figure shows a turbine 1 and a triple section heat-exchanger 24<1>. Air is supplied by a rotary compressor to a pipe 23. from which it passes under the control of valves 26<1>, 31<1> through one of the sections of the heat-storer to the inlet pipe 25 of the turbine. The exhaust of the turbine passes through the other sections of the heatstorer to pipe 30 and to atmosphere. Periodically the valves, which are driven by an electric motor, are actuated so that the compressed air is passed to a section which has just been heated, and exhaust gas is diverted to the previously used section. Fuel is supplied to intermediate stages of the turbine by a pipe 11 and may be also at the point of admission. Additional air may be admitted from a pipe 12. In a modification, the exhaust gases are returned to the compressor and extra air is introduced.
