Working-fluid supply. - In a multi-stage turbine, the first stage I is supplied with a mixture of combustion products and steam at a certain temperature, and additional combustion products are fed into the succeeding stages II, III to reheat working-fluid to its initial temperature as it enters each stage. The combustion chamber 9 is supplied with fuel by a pipe 10 and air by a compressor 12, and the gases mix in the chamber 8 with steam generated by the exhaust gases in a generator 22 and supplied by a pipe 14. Air from a low-pressure stage 13 of the compressor is led by a pipe 17 to a chamber 15 where fuel from a pipe 16 is burnt, the burnt gases being led to stage II for the purpose described above. The inlet pressure at the stage III is such that atmospheric air is drawn from a pipe 20 into a chamber 18, where fuel from a pipe 19 is burnt, the burnt gases being led to stage III. Sub-atmospheric expansion ensues in stage III, and the exhaust gases pass in turn through a condenser 20a and a condenser 21 which discharges them into the atmosphere.
