371,669. Combustion-product plant. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. June 15, 1931, No. 17361. Convention date, Sept. 3, 1930. [Class 7 (i).] In a steam generator in which the fuel is burnt in compressed air at constant pressure produced by a compressor driven by a gas turbine operated by the heating gases which pass through the tubes of the generator with a velocity of at least 200 metres per second, the gas turbine is so disposed in the heating gas stream between the combustion chamber and waste gas outlet that the pressure ratio of expansion in the gas turbine is considerably smaller than, and at the most eight-tenths of, the pressure ratio of compression in the compressor. A compressor 26 driven by a gas turbine 12 supplies air under pressure to an oil burner 28 delivering into a combustion chamber 1 surrounded by water tubes 4. The combustion products pass at high velocity through tubes 9, led through the water tubes 4, and through the diffuser-like ends 10 thereof into the header 11 from which they pass into the gas turbine 12. The products leaving the turbine pass into a header 14 and then through tubes 15, having diffusers 16, into a collector 17 and thence to the atmosphere or to a water or air heater.
