Abstract
237,534. Weir, Ltd., G. & J., and Weir, J. G. Feb. 25, 1925. Motor power plant.- In the employment for power production of hot products of combustion comprising non - condensable gases and water vapour, in order to recover the latent heat of the water vapour, the gases are first utilized in an engine k and then passed through a low-pressure boiler o, the pressure of steam generation in which is such that the temperature is sufficiently low to allow of the condensation of of the water vapour, the non-condensable gases then being employed in an engine r. The engines k, r may be the cylinders of a compound engine, or may be turbines. Steam from the generator o may be utilized in a low-pressure turbine s exhausting into a condenser t. The products of combustion are generated in a chamber a to which fuel is supplied at high pressure through a pipe b, air being admitted through a pipe c and water from an annular duct f through holes d.
