Abstract

477,285. Power plant. SPENCERBONECOURT, Ltd., and GREGSON, W. June 19,1936, No. 17061. [Class 7 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] An installation for the production of power from waste gases leaving a furnace &c. A comprises a hot-air engine, such as a Stirling or Ericsson engine, or an exhaust-gas turbine B which receives the gases direct from the furnace and is coupled to an electric generator or other machinery, and a boiler C which is heated by the exhaust from the engine or turbine and generates steam for process work, &c. The installation may also include one or two superheaters F, F<1> located as shown. When the furnace gases are at zero or negative pressure an induced draught fan D, preferably driven by the hot-air engine after initial starting by an electric motor &c., is employed for maintaining a suction in the furnace and/or overcoming resistance in the boiler.
