Abstract
226,613. Benson, M. Sept. 25, 1923. Materials, special. - A method of generating power consists in heating a fluid at. a pressure above its critical pressure to a temperature above its critical temperature, dissociating it by electrolysis, exploding the constituents in an engine, condensing the fluid and returning the condensate to the heater. The fluid is preferably water. It may be heated to such a degree above the critical temperature that when expanded to atmospheric pressure it remains dry. Sufficient fluid may be left undecomposed to regulate the temperature and pressure at which ignition takes place, the velocity of flame propagation, and the temperature and pressure drop in expansion. Specifications 201,296 and 201,304, [both in Class 122 (iii), Steam-engines, Kinds &c.], are referred to.
