Abstract

397,367. Vehicle wheels. KELSEYHAYES WHEEL CORPORATION, 3600, Military Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Jan. 12, 1933, No. 1119. Convention date, Jan. 25, 1932. [Class 144 (i).] The attachment-flange 8, Fig. 2, welded to the hub 9 of a wire wheel, is formed with two coned shoulders 10, 16 which are axially and radially spaced to co-operate with complementary seatings 19, 20 on the permanent hub 1. The construction is such that the seating-surfaces are engaged before the web of the flange 8 is drawn up to the flange 27 of the hub 1 by means of the nuts 23. The hub 1 is in two parts 26, 28 between which the centre 24 of the brake-drum 3 is clamped by bolts 29. The parts 26, 24, 27 may be provided with registering grooves to direct waste oil from the hub 1 to the outer side of the brakedrum. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which an artillery-wheel 40 is fitted with a hub-sleeve 39 flanged to correspond with the hub-barrel and flange 8 of the wire-wheel shown in Fig. 2.
