Abstract

512,448. Vehicle wheels. KRONPRINZ AKT.-GES. FUR METALL-INDUSTRIE, and LUDWIG, W. March 4, 1938, No. 6883. [Class 144 (i)] Relates to wheels comprising discs welded to an axle-tube constituting a hub-barrel. In the form shown in Fig. 1, pairs of corrugated discs 4, 5 and 6, 7 welded to the axle-tube 1 are seamed and/or welded together at 6a, 7a, the inner pair of discs being profiled to form a deep well-base to the rim. In a modification the side discs are of coned form, the inner one having a cylindrical portion to which a brakedrum is welded. Fig. 5 shows a modification comprising main discs 17, 20 and an outer supporting-disc 11, the main discs diverging from the rim-base to the axle-tube. Fig 6 shows a further modification in which the discs 23, 24 welded to the axle tube 1 are flanged over at 23b, 24b and welded to brake-drums 27, the well-base of the rim being formed by a pair of rings 28, 29 welded together, and to the discs.
