Abstract

558,397. Vehicle wheels. SAVAGE, W., and RUSTON-BUCYRUS, Ltd. July 13, 1942, No. 9682. [Class 144 (i)] A metal wheel without a separate tyre for tractors, gun carriages &c. is formed of two plates 1. 2 dished at 4 near their peripheries and welded together to provide a hollow bulbous rim and tyre 15. An annular strengthening ring 10 may be welded to the meeting edges of the discs, and a series of tubes 16 may be welded to the web portions of the discs for stiffness. The discs may be welded at 13 to a hub tube, 7. In a modification an annular band is welded between the meeting edges of the discs to form a more flattened tread.
