777,037. Vehicle wheels. MASSEY-HARRISFERGUSON (MANUFACTURING), Ltd. May 24, 1954 [July 18, 1953], No. 19972/53. Class 144 (1). To facilitate mounting of agricultural implement wheels, the wheel hub is formed by two axially spaced rings 12 having spokes 11 secured thereto and formed with coned radially inner surfaces 13 to engage correspondingly coned axially spaced surfaces 9 on a permanent hub 5, the wheel being secured by bolts 16 passing through holes in the rings 12 and screwing into a flange or lugs 7 on the permanent hub 5, and nuts 17 on the bolts 16 serving to move and clamp the inboard ring 12 on its seating 9 to spread the rings 12 and thereby tension the spokes 11. The permanent hub seatings 9 may be continuous or in the form of circumferentially spaced bosses 8, and likewise the coned surfaces 13 of the hub rings 12 may be continuous or circumferentially interrupted.
