Abstract

391,886. Operating doors and hatch covers. CAMPBELL, J., 129, Woodbine Avenue, Wallsend, Northumberland. Nov. 19, 1931, No. 32069. [Class 65 (i).] A mechanism for operating the covers of ships' hatchways, or similar doors, comprises an inverted U- shaped lever d spanning the hatchway and pivoted at e on each side thereof, the lever being connected by a link f to the cover and by a link c to a nut b on a hand-operated screw shaft a. One edge of the cover bears against blocks x which take the place of hinges. The lever d is provided with an extension h to receive a linch-pin which engages one of a series of holes in the hatch coaming to fix the mechanism in any position.
