Abstract
391,233. Fuel-injection pumps. PILGRIMS WAY MOTOR CO., Ltd., GRAVENOR, J., and ARMITAGE, E. L., Weydon Hill, Farnham, Surrey. Oct. 30, 1931, No. 30068. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection pump of the type in which the barrel c has upper suction ports c<1> controlled by the end of the plunger b and a lower inclined spill port f co-operating with axial and transverse passages f<1>, f<2> in the plunger, the barrel is formed in one piece, inserted in the pump body a, and forming therewith a suction chamber d. The barrel may be surrounded by a sleeve f<3>, Fig. 7, having ports c<3> registering with the ports c<1> and ports f<4>, f<5> communicating with the ends of the port f. The ends of the port f may be parallel to one another, or inclined and curved. Alternatively, the port f may be replaced by an eccentric passage c<4>, Fig. 9, cut through the barrel and intersecting the bore.
