Abstract

400,285. Fuel-injection pumps. SIDNEY, A. A., 36, Chipstead Avenue, Thornton Heath, Surrey. Feb. 7, 1933, No. 1723/32. [Class 102 (i).] A fuel-injection pump comprises a plunger 1 provided with a diametral bore 10 and a longitudinal bore 11. The bore 10 co-operates with triangular ports 4, 6 connected to suction and disposed in the cylinder wall so that the delivery of the pump is confined to the period that the bore 10 is covered by the cylinder wall between the inclined edges 8, 9. For adjusting the delivery, either the cylinder or the plunger may be rotated by a rack. Another pair of similar ports 5, 7 may be disposed to co-operate with the other end of the bore 10. More than one 'diametral bore may be used and corresponding ports provided. The distance between the adjacent apices of the ports is less than the diameter of the bore 10 so that the delivery may be reduced to zero.
