Abstract

443,691. Fuelinjection pumps. L'ORANGE, R., 48, Heidestrasse, Feuerbach, Stuttgart, Germany. Sept. 11, 1935, Nos. 25252 and 25253. Convention dates, Sept. 20, 1934 and July 4, 1935. [Class 102 (i)] In a fuel-injection pump the suction passage 12, Fig. 2, is controlled by the plunger and relief takes place through a helical groove 6 in the plunger, which is in constant communication with a relief groove 10 in the barrel, and makes communication between that groove and a recess 5 in the compression chamber. The edge 2 of the recess 5 is parallel to the edge of the groove 6 and the plunger is rotatable to vary the timing of relief. A passage K may be provided making communication between the compression chamber and the relief passage Y, in order to secure flushing through and removal of gas bubbles. The plunger M is rotatable by means of an axially movable rod D<1>, Fig. 3, which may control several plungers, and is connected to each plunger by means of a rod R slidablo through the plunger. The rod R may carry a pin R2 slidable in a hole in the rod D<1>, or vice versa. Alternatively the rod R may be pivoted to the rod D<1> and pass through a slot in the plunger.
