Abstract

1345598 Fuel injection pumps MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO K K 22 June 1971 [23 June 1970] 29293/71 Heading F1A In a fuel injection pump comprising a plunger 7 reciprocable in a cylinder barrel 8 having ports 15a, 15b in communication with a fuel supply chamber 17, the plunger 7 is angularly adjustable to an engine-starting position, Fig. 1, providing two-stage injection and an engine-running position providing only a main injection. The preliminary injection occurs, Fig. 1, on closure of the ports 15a, 15b and is terminated when a spill groove 13 in the plunger communicates with the port 15a. Thereafter the main injection commences when the groove 13 and port 15a no longer communicate and is terminated when a spill groove 14 communicates with the ports 15a, 15b. After starting the plunger 7 is rotated to the Fig. 4A position in which main injection commences when the plunger position 7c closes the port 15b.
