Abstract

1,257,351. Fuel-injection pumps. KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT DEUTZ AG. April 18, 1969 [April 27, 1968], No. 19959/69. Heading F1A. A fuel-injection pump for an I.C. engine has a spring-loaded piston 1 in a guide 10 containing a suction bore 24 and outlet valve 25, the lower end 7 of the piston engaging with one side face of an irregular prismatic-shaft 5 supported by journals 6 in a roller tappet 3. Partial rotation of the shaft 5 about its longitudinal axis by a key (not shown) engaging with a socket 23 varies the stroke of the piston relative to the bore 24 and hence the injection pressure. The key is inserted through a bore 21 while a spring-loaded bush 14 temporarily engages with a recess 16 to arrest the tappet. A lug 18 holds the bush when in its retracted position (as shown).
