Abstract

390,639. Pneumatic conveyers. KENNEDY, J. E., 2, Park Avenue, Manhattan,.New York, U.S.A. April 4, 1932, No. 9655. [Class 78 (i).] In a system for conveying pulverized fuel suspended in a current of air from a pulverizer to a number of burners, means are provided to ensure uniform density of the fuel and air mixture in the branch conduits leading from the main conduit to the burners consisting of a truncated conical casing 17, Fig. 3, connected at its smaller end to the supply conduit 12 and at its larger end to branch conduits 13 leading to burners. The casing is provided internally with a rotary conical drum 25 driven by a motor M and provided with blades 26, which may be parallel to the axis of the drums as shown or may be of helical form. In a modification the drum 25 is driven by the current of fuel and air which enters the casing 17 tangentially. Fig. 10 shows a further modification in which the conical casing 17 is provided internally with a rotary member 25 having a passage adapted to communicate continuously with the conduit 12 and successively with the branch conduits 13. The member 25 is driven by a motor 47 operated by fluid jets.
