Abstract

Equipment comprises a casing with perforated bottom, a feed-pipe for a gas-current carrying floating fibres and an agitator with blades close to the perforated bottom. The agitator has a main and two auxiliary shafts. The latter are fitted at their top end with friction wheels, engaging a ring fitted to the cover, and with a number of blades at their bottom end. The side-wall has a narrow slit near the bottom, fitted with an air nozzle. A compressed-air supply is so connected that the air-current produced flows off through the slit to the outside. An equipment for unravelling lumps of fibres, consisting of a container with several compressed-air nozzles is connected to the slit by a pipe and returns the fibres to the casing through another pipe.
