Abstract

388,684. Thermionic valves. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Sept. 9, 1932, No. 25186. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] A tubular indirectlyheated cathode 14 enclosing a heater is supported from a cross-piece 9 and has two or more external leads 20, 23 to the cathode body proper arranged so that a current passing between them traverses substantially the whole cathode surface. A current may be passed through the cathode to remove occluded gases or to activate the coating. The lead 23 may then be snipped off just below the pinch before the cap is placed on the bulb. The invention is stated to be particularly applicable to cathodes having heater voltages of 15 volts or more.
