Abstract
386,053. Vehicle-suspension systems. GARNER, H., 50, St. Agnes Road, Moseley, Birmingham, and GARNER, J. P., Croftholme, Bickenhill, Hampton-in-Arden , Warwickshire. Oct. 6, 1931, No. 27689. [Class 108 (ii).] The rear wheels of a six-wheeled vehicle are mounted on axles 1, 5 offset from the centres of suspension springs 2, 6, the adjacent ends of which are interconnected by shackles 19, 20, link 17, and bell-crank levers 11, 12, each articulated on the vehicle frame within the length of the springs 2, 6 respectively. The other ends of the springs 2, 6 are respectively pivoted to brackets 9, 10 on the frame. The angle between the arms of the bell-crank levers is preferably slightly less than a right-angle, e.g. about 87‹. Rubber stops 22 may be provided. In a modification in which the axles are connected to the underside of the springs, the bell-crank levers are inverted and the angle between the arms of each lever is preferably somewhat greater than a right-angle. One or both axles may be driven or both may be trailing axles.
