388,391. Vehiclesuspension systems. BALSAMO, R., 10, Viale Stazione Lecce, Italy. Aug. 18, 1931, No. 23289. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1930. [Class 108 (ii).] In a spring-suspension system for road vehicles, each wheel is carried by one end of a lever O<1> D pivoted to the vehicle frame or to the usual laminated spring A Q and maintained by springs N H at a substantial inclination to the horizontal under all working conditions, the levers O<1> D being also connected to the vehicle frame by load-equalizing pistons and cylinders G, the cylinders for all the wheels or for those on one side only being interconnected. In one form, the wheel-carrying levers O<1> D, Fig. 1, are pivoted to a straight or upwardly curved tie-bar D E connecting the front and rear laminated springs A Q, and the springs N H connect the levers to a bracket M on the tie-bar D E. Resilient stops limit the movement of the levers, the ends O<1> of which may be guided by extensions of the tie-rod D, E, the extensions on each side of the vehicle being connected by rigid cross members. In a modification in which the tie-bars are omitted, the levers are mounted on a fixture T, Fig. 9, on the laminated spring and a cranked integral extension D, N of each lever is connected to the vehicle frame by a spring B<1>. The differential gear may be arranged with half axles at an angle to each other.
