Abstract
333,663. Dexter, G. June 4, 1929. Springs, arrangement of; equalizing load on springs and wheels.-In a spring mounting for the axles of road vehicles, and particularly the front axle of six-wheeled vehicles, each end of the axle 1 is carried by a longitudinally-arranged lever 2, which is pivoted to the chassis 5 at 4<a> and transmits the load to one or more springs mounted on the chassis, the levers on each side of the vehicle being connected to move in synchronism in opposite directions in relation to the chassis when a shock is received on one wheel. The levers 2 are connected by twin balljoint couplings 10 to brackets 9 on the ends of a transverse leaf spring 6, which is centrally pivoted by means of brackets 7, 8 to the chassis. The levers 2 are connected by twin ball-joint couplings 3 to the axle 1, which is also connected to light longitudinal leaf springs 11 attached at their ends to the chassis. According to the Provisional Specification, the levers 2 are connected to a transverse centrally-pivoted lever controlled by a transverse leaf spring.
