Abstract
333,371. Cull, W., and Allen, F. J. July 23, 1929. Springs, arrangement of; equalizing load on wheels.-In a four-wheeled truck, and more particularly the four-wheeled truck of a six-wheeled motor vehicle, the leading and trailing axles a, b are each mounted at each side of the vehicle in an axle box c mounted on trunnions d in a carrier e pivotally suspended at f from a vertically-oscillating beam g, which is pivoted at its end to a, depending bracket rigidly connected to the chassis k and is coupled, as by a shackle m, to an equalizing-spring n or a resiliently-mounted girder pivoted at o to the bracket j. The lower end of each carrier e is connected to the bracket j by a vertically-oscillating pivoted link q. Supplementary shock-absorbing devices comprise adjustablymounted compression springs t, or dash-pots, rubber discs, or other resilient devices, coacting with cranks s rigid with the beams g. Alternatively, or in addition, supplementary shock-absorbing springs or frictional dampers &c. may be applied to the beams g, to the links g, or to the pivots of the equalizing-springs or girders,' &c.
