Abstract

134,273. Gros, C. F. Oct. 22, 1918. Balance frames and equalizing-levers.-A sixwheeled motor road vehicle, which can be adapted for use on rails, and provided with means for securing a uniform distribution of the load and facilitating movement over an uneven track is shown in Fig. 1. The front wheel axle 4 is connected by traction arms 1 to the dumb-irons of the chassis 3 and by links 10 to a quarter elliptic spring 5 mounted on a pivot 7 on the chassis and having an arm 6 connected by a rod 8 to a similar spring mounting for the front wheel axle of the bogie. The bogie wheel axles are connected by slightly resilient plate-like beams 11 having central strengthening channel-shaped bars 12 pivoted - on a rod 13 on which is mounted the bogie spring 14. In a modification, the quarter elliptic springs are replaced by half elliptic springs centrally pivoted to the chassis, their proximate ends being linked to a balance beam also centrally pivoted to the chassis.
