Abstract
555,188. Axle-trucks. SCHEWEIZERISCHE LOKOMATIC-UND MASCHINENFABRIK. Nov 13, 1942, No. 16098. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1941. [Class 103 (vi)] Radial trucks 1, 2, with axles 3, 4 respectively and which are urged together by means of springs 18 and a tie-rod 16 and are pivotally connected by a pin 12 on truck 2 engaging in a ball 13 on truck 1, each abut on a central radially-adjustable truck 5 with axle 6 by unsprung abutment members, which are shown as vertical pins 14 on truck 5 engaging in sockets on cross-members 15 of trucks 1 and 2. All the pins 14 abut in their complementary sockets when the track is straight as shown in Fig. 2 and the wheel axles are in parallel adjustment; when the track is curved the outer set of abutments become disengaged as shown in Fig. 3 and the central truck is laterally adjusted ; re-adjustment to parallelism of the axles occurs on leaving the curve, this being produced by the action of the body which is suspended by oblique shackles. In two modifications there is no central truck ; in one form the abutment pins are carried by one radial truck and the sockets by the other ; in the other form the abutment pins are carried by a frame supporting the central pivot pin of the body and the complementary sockets by the radial trucks.
