Abstract
365,491. Road vehicle suspensions. DAIMLER BENZ AKT.-GES., Untert³rkheim, Stuttgart, Germany. July 14, 1931, No. 20204. Convention date, July 15, 1930. [Class 108 (ii).] In vehicle suspension systems in which the wheels are independently mounted on swinging half-axles 4 turning about longitudinal axes near the centre of the vehicle, the abutments of the helical suspension springs 5 are maintained parallel to one another by linkwork. The inner end of the half-axle 4 is pivoted to the gear box 2 about a longitudinal axis 3 and the lower seat 7 of the helical springs 5, arranged in front of and behind the axle, is maintained parallel to the upper seat 6 on the frame 1 by parallelogram linkwork. The seat 7 is pivoted to the axle at the point 9 and is also connected at the point 10 by a link 11 to a point 12 on the gear box. The parallelogram formed by the connections between the pivots 9, 10, 12, 3 thus maintains the pivots 9, 10 in a vertical line and the seat 7 horizontal.
