Abstract
304,886. Allen, R. E. H. Dec. 15, 1927. Underframes, construction of.- The motor unit 2 has arms a mounted on the longitudinals 4 at points c which are connected with the rear transversal by girders 3, while the end b of the motor is mounted on a. transverse spring and has a pivotal connection with the front transversal. The motor and girders 3 therefore forms virtually a diamond frame inside a rectangular one. The rear springs 13 are secured to brackets 26, 27 carried by the girders 3. In the case of trailers and other vehicles, the points b, c, c, are connected by actual frame members, the turntable being secured to the front triangle and the rear axle springs to the rear triangle.
