Abstract
252,935. Headley, r. H. July 31, 1925. Springs, arrangement of.-Relates to spring suspensions for perambulators and like vehicles and comprising pairs of radius arms pivoted to the frame or body and extending forwardly and rearwardly to carry the front and rear axle respectively, compression springs being interposed between the front and rear ends of the arms and the frame or body. The pivots for the forwardly extending arms are placed behind those of the rearwardly extending arms so that the arms overlap and enable a short sheet base to be obtained while using relatively long arms. The arms c, d carrying the front and rear axles c<1>, d<1> respectively are pivoted at a<2>, a<3> to a substructure comprising metal strips a<1> secured to the frame a, b, and the springs c<2>, d<2> are interposed between the frame-members b and bars c<3>, d<3> connecting the radius arms of each pair. The mechanism may be mounted in a recess in the underside of the vehicle body and the pivots a<2>, a<3> are preferably in proximity one to the other.
