Abstract

385,989. Bayonet-joint fastenings. STAGEL, K., 9, Schelleingasse, and STERN, H., 13, Ullmannstrasse, both in Vienna. June 26, 1931, No. 18507. [Class 44.] A stand head for a camera &c. is formed as one part of a bayonet catch, the other part being attached to the camera &c., the parts being secured against accidental disconnection by a bolt movable in the direction of the axis of the stand. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the stand head 1 is provided with a sliding bolt 5 arranged in one of the bayonet grooves 4. The bolt is depressed against the action of a spring plate 6 when the camera &c. is placed upon the head and is automatically returned by the plate 6 after the camera &c. has been rotated to bring the two parts of the catch into the fastening position. In a modification shown in Fig. 5 the head is rotatably mounted on a baseplate 25 and a pair of locking bolts 33 are carried by a springy arm 34. A second springy arm 37 has a projection 38 which can be selectively engaged with recesses 39 in the baseplate. The upper part 28 of the bayonet catch is secured to the camera &c. by a screw 28<1> and the lower part 29 of the catch is secured to a member 30 which rotates with the head. In a further modification shown in Fig. 14 the head is formed in three parts 11, 12, 13 hinged together at 14, 15, each part being hinged at 18 to a tripod leg 19 so that the head and legs can be folded as shown in Fig. 15 when the camera &c. is removed.
