Abstract
409,442. Tables. JONES, W. H., Small Street, Stockport Road, Manchester. Dec. 14, 1932, No. 35394. [Class 52 (iii).] In a folding table such as that described in Specification 368,075, the upper ends of any two adjacent legs are made or provided with spring- controlled or automatically-returnable parts which enable the top to be inserted and withdrawn without folding-up the leg frame. Fig. 5 shows the upper end of a table leg a fitted with a movable part d on a blade spring f; this may be set on the inner face of the part d. Fig. 5<b> shows a part d which is slidable horizontally on a bolt k and is pressed by a spring l; a similar pin and spring may be set vertically in a recess in the leg a adjacent to the base of the part d. In a modification a spring-pressed sliding catch bolt is fitted in the upper end of the leg so as to engage with the upper edge of the rim of the top e. Knobs are fitted to the legs to support the table top e in a vertical position for use as a fire screen ; in this usage the legs are folded together, and are supported by their splayed feet. To prevent accidental folding of the unfolded frames, they are connected by a hook- and-eye device. The top is reversible, one part being covered with baize or the like.
