Abstract

382,600. Magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus. BRITISH BLATTNERPHONE (STILLE SYSTEM), Ltd., 35, Little Newport Street, London. July 29, 1932, No. 21449. Convention date, July 30, 1931. [Class 40 (ii).] The coils of the recording or reproducing head of a magnetic talking machine are provided with a plurality of separate windings connected in separate circuits having different natural frequencies which are so chosen that the circuit arrangement as a whole has approximately constant impedance to all frequencies within the significant acoustic range. The natural frequencies of the individual circuits are arranged to be at the limit or outside of the significant range. The Figure shows the magnets 11, 12 of the device provided with two windings 3, 4 and 7, 8. The winding 3, 4 is in circuit with a blocking condenser 5 and the secondary 2 of a transformer connected with the transmitter or receiver and the winding 7, 8 is in circuit with a blocking condenser 9 and the secondary 6 of the transformer. The two circuits are such that their resonance peaks lie outside or at least at the upper and lower limits of the significant acoustic frequency range.
