Abstract

281,740. Gramophone Co., Ltd., (Victor Talking Machine Co.). July 6, 1926. Thermionic amplifiers.-In order to neutralize the effect of internal capacity in thermionic amplifiers parts of one or both coils of an intervalve transformer are shunted by a condenser in series with a resistance. Thus the secondary 8, Fig. 1, part of which is closely coupled and part loosely coupled with the primary 5, has a condenser 10 and resistance 11 shunted across the closely coupled part. In the system shown in Fig. 2 the primary coil 20 is in two parts connected in shunt, and the secondary coil 24 is similarly divided, the condenser 10 being connected to two electrically symmetrical points in the two halves of the secondary. The number of turns shunted, the capacity 10 and the resistance 11 are so adjusted that the load on the valve 3 is capacitative, so that oscillation is dis. couraged at high frequencies without loss of amplification at low frequencies.
