Abstract

131,113. Robinson, C., and Chamney, R. M. July 17, 1918. Telephonic repeaters.-A repeater is connected to a telephone circuit by means of a transformer C having its primary winding, preferably in series with a condenser, connected in shunt across the line and having its secondary winding connected to one side of the repeater, the other side of which is connected to a suitable. balancing-circuit D. In the valve repeate described, the grid circuit of the valve V is connected to the secondary of a differential transformer A, of which one side is connected to the balancing-circuit D and the other to the secondary of transformer C. The centre points of the differential transformer A are connected to one coil of a transformer B, the other winding of which is connected to the plate circuit of the valve. The amplified currents from the valve divide at the centre points of the differential transformer, part passing to line and part to the balancing-circuit. If the balance is correct, the amplified currents will have no effect upon the repeated. With a microphonic repeater, the differential transformer A may be replaced by a differential arrangement of inductances, resistances, or condensers
