Abstract

286,578. Igranic Electric Co., Ltd., and Hopwood, H. Nov. 15, 1927. Thermionic amplifiers and detectors. - The degree of magnetic coupling between fixed coils r, g in the plate and grid circuits of an amplifier v is controlled by means of a three-plate condenser c<1>, c<2>, c<3> in such a way as not to affect the initial tuning of the grid circuit. The condenser plates c<3> moves relatively to the fixed plates c<1>, c<2> in such a way that as the overlap between c<2> and c<1> increases that between c<3> and c<2> decreases and vice versa. The overall capacity between the plates therefore remains constant, though the amount of current flowing through the coil r varies in accordance with the overlap between the plates c<2>, c<3>. The shunt capacity between plate and filament serves to byepass high-frequency currents from the lowfrequency coupling-transformer. The coil r may be an extension of the grid coil g.
