Abstract
260,036. Round, H. J. July 20, 1925. Thermionic amplifiers.-In a multi-valve thermionic amplifier of the kind having anti-reaction means for neutralizing the effects of inherent capacity couplings, some of the inductances in the plate circuits of the valves are astatically wound, and some wound in the usual way. As shown, the tuned inter-valve circuits are connected on the one hand to the plate, and on the other through balancing capacities 4 to the grids, an intermediate point on the coils being kept at zero high-frequency potential by a connection to the plate battery 5. Some of the coils, e.g. the plate coil of the second valve, are wound in the usual way, whilst others e.g. the plate coils of the first and third valves are wound in two halves 3a, 3b which are so placed that whilst the desired inductance is presented to currents circulating in series through them, their external field is practically zero. Oscillations, other than those transmitted by the amplifier in the normal way, are prevented.
