Thermionic amplifiers.-In a thermionic amplifier having a number of valves 1, 2, 3, the anode of each valve 1, say, is connected to the grid of the next valve 2 through a variable condenser 8, an inductance 4 is arranged in the anode-filament circuit of valve 1 and an inductance 5 in the gridfilament circuit of valve 2, the filament terminals of these inductances being connected by a fixed condenser 10, which may be common to several valves and is arranged across the high-voltage supply circuit 15. The selectivity of the amplifier may be increased by coupling an inductance 11 in the plate circuit of one valve, 3, say, to the grid-filament inductance of the same valve. The inter-valve circuit 4, 8, 5, 10 may be tuned to any desired frequency.
