Abstract
381,891. Projectiles ; fuzes. SOC. ITALIANA E. BREDA, 9, Via Bordoni, Milan, Italy. May 17, 1932, No. 14017. Convention date, May 18, 1931. Addition to 272,221 and 298,244, [both in Class 9 (i), Ammunition &c.]. [Class 9 (i).] Relates to percussion fuzes of the kind comprising two telescopic parts one pivotallv mounted and the other bearing against a concave seat as described in the parent Specifications. According to the invention, the pivotal action is obtained by a large light head 38 of one part fitting loosely in the outer casing 28, and this head is surmounted by a cup 42 which bears on a concave seat 28<1> and wedges the firing-pin 40, 6 against the percussion cap 9 when the impact is lateral, the firing-pin being slidably mounted in the head 38 and being normally retracted by a spring 41. The percussion cap 9 and the detonator 21 are arranged in a tube 37 in one with the second part 8 which contains the main explosive charge, and is slidable on a tube 31 in one with the head 38 and is pressed by a spring 10 against the concave seat 27<1>. The two parts of the fuze are normally held apart by a transverse safety rod 22 which is pulled out by a cap 23 when the bomb is thrown.
