381,578. Stop valves. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP IRMA INDUSTRIE EN RUWMATERIALEN MAATSCHAPPIJ, 55, Haringvliet, Rotterdam, Holland. June 5, 1931, No. 16519. Convention date, June 7, 1930. [Class 135.] Piston valves; casings.-A stop valve for gases and liquids comprises a casing having inlet and outlet passages c, d substantially in line with a connecting curved passage, all of uniform cross section and a laterally unperforate piston valve a the end wall o of which is curved so that in the open position, as shown, it completes the curved wall of the passage and forms an uninterrupted curved passage through the valve. The piston valve slides in a ported sleeve e with end packings f, g, all disposed in a guide casing having its axis disposed tangentially to the centre line of the curved passage, as shown. The piston valve may be balanced by fluid admitted to the opposite end of the piston through an axially disposed or other passage in the valve. A grub screw i projects into a guide groove in the valve to prevent its rotation during the opening and closing movements by the screw m.
