Abstract
535,920. Mixing valves. HOLBURN, J. F. April 16, 1940, No. 6827. [Class 135] A mixing valve for gases or fluids under pressure comprises a piston valve slidable in a cylindrical chamber to control ports at different levels in the curved walls, said piston having an end face or extension adapted to close a port connecting inlet and outlet chambers in one extreme position of the piston. In the form shown in Fig. 1, inlet pipes p<SP>1</SP>, p<SP>2</SP> lead to ports G, H so arranged relatively to the piston C that one port is covered as the other is uncovered. Fluid from the port H flows directly to the outlet p<SP>2</SP> by way of port V controlled by the lower end face of the piston and port M while fluid from the port G flows through a byepass pipe X and ports V and M. In a modification, the cylindrical chamber is surrounded by a second casing joined to the inner casing by radial partitions forming four, one of which serves as the byepass while the other three are connected to the inlets and outlet. The external casing may only partly enclose the inner casing.
