Abstract

617,183. Valves, PLOEG, J. RATELBAND-. April 29, 1946, No. 12788. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1945. [Class 135] A valve device comprises a casing 1, an inserted tubular member 2 which is gradually reduced in diameter from its opposite ends towards a central partition 3 and a flexible sleeve-like member 6 surrounding the tubular member and adapted to control openings 4, 5 on opposite sides of the partition under the control of fluid pressure or vacuum applied to a chamber 11. The pressure fluid may be water or air and may be supplied by a compressor or a vacuum plant or hydrostatically. The pressure fluid may be controlled from a remote point or as in Fig. 2, by a cock 14 with an angular passage 16, whereby the chamber 11 may be placed selectively in communication with the inlet or outlet sides of the valve. The ends of the sleeve 6 have inwardly directed flanges held by clamping rings 15, 15<1>. The sleeve 6 may have a central collar connected to the inside of the casing and resisting contraction of the sleeve on to the tubular member. In a modification, the members 2 and 6 extend the full length of the casing and the member 6 has flanges which act as packings. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises a tap, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), having a tubular member 2 screwed into the tap body 1 and a chamber 11 sealed by a packing 19. Inlet pressure has access to the chamber 11 through a port 20 and a passage 21 larger than the port 20 communicates with the outlet 24 through a cock 22. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
