663,936. Valves. CURRAN, J. R. April 16, 1949 [April 19, 1948], No. 10258/49. Class 135. A fluid control valve comprises a cylindrical plug 22 operated by a spring-loaded diaphragm through the rod 31, the plug sliding in a sleeve 18<SP>1</SP> and sealing with the sleeve through a tapered seal 23 of, e.g. polytetrafluoro ethylene. The lower end 16 of the plug makes a line closure with the seat to control the passage of fluid from an inlet 11 to an outlet 12. The plug has an axial passage 30, the upper end of which is closed by the rod 31, and channels 33 connect a closed space 35 above the plug to the passage and outlet. Leakage may also be prevented by forming a labyrinth 26 between the sleeve and plug.
