818,873. Manually-actuated valves. LIQUID CONTROLS CORPORATION. May 8, 1956, No. 14303/56. Class 135. A sleeve valve for the control of fluid flow in a pipe line comprises a valve sleeve 36 slidable on a ported tubular member 35 welded to a flange 30 secured by screws 33 to one end of an open-ended housing 18. The member 35 is partitioned intermediate its ends adjacent its ports 37 whilst the sleeve 36 is formed with ears 52 through which passes a pin 54 fixed to an arcuate arm 80 operatively connected to a hand lever 76 by a crank-arm 78 and shaft 62. A sealing ring 83 mounted in a groove in either the member 35 or sleeve 36 and remaining at all times to the right of the ports 37 provides a first seal and a gasket 44 clamped between the flange 30 and a flange 20 on the housing 18 and entering a groove 42 in the member 36 on engagement by the bevelled edge of the sleeve provides a second seal. The gasket 44 instead of entering the groove 42 may have a larger internal diameter whence a sealing ring is mounted in an external groove in the member 35.
