381,566. Sewing-machines. GROVES, W. W., 30, Southampton Buildings, London. (Carter Bros., Inc. ; Cherokee Boulevard, Chattanooga, Tennessee, U.S.A.) May 27, 1931, No. 22042/32. Divided on 381,553. [Class 112.] The throat plate 18 of a tufting or sewing machine, which supports fabric having lines of stitching thereon and through a slot 107 in which feed dogs 24 operate, has a tongue 108 at its forward part with a raised rounded portion 218 and grooves 219 at the sides. The presser foot is correspondingly formed and co-operates with the tongue 108 to press the lines of stitching into the grooves 219 clear of the needle when making a new line of stitching. Specification 381,553 is referred to.
