Abstract

477,195. Sewing-machines. ALMOND, Ltd., D., and ALMOND, D. Jan. 30, 1937, No. 2754. [Class 112] For making mocassin slippers, a sewing- machine has a pair of toothed wheels which crimp the edge of the vamp and secure the crimps against subsequent deformation by stitching. The vamp C is fed between the toothed wheels a, b to produce the crimps c and simultaneously a row of permanent stitches is sewn into the crimps so that no deformation occurs when the vamp C is sewn to the facing F to form the slipper. The wheel b is carried by the presser bar and may be inclined to the wheel a to afford clearance for the needle d.
